Washington Baptist Church was
founded over 150 years ago. Like most churches of that era, the foundation
was made of local granite. It has needed extensive repair for some time.
With the help of mission groups from outside the state, the church has
begun the project.
Week of August 8, 2005
The work begins to remove
the old flooring.

After the flooring comes up,
then the old joists must be removed.

After the flooring and joists
are removed, the group pauses for a picture as they stand on ground
that has not seen the light of day for over 150 years.

Week of August 15, 2005
After the old flooring was
removed a series of braces and jacks were put inside the building.

They also had to put some
bracing outside the building.

Week of August 22, 2005
New seals were put around the building.

New concrete piers were installed
to replace the granite ones.

The building was jacked up
and leveled.

Last Week of August
