Bennington Church Holds Soul Winning Commitment Day

Capstone Baptist Church in North Bennington celebrated Soul Winning Commitment Day on October 4, 2009. They used the materials published by the North American Mission Board that were designed to help local churches take the Lord's challenge for soul winning seriously. As a result of this emphasis on soul winning, the following Sunday the four year old congregation had their highest attendance ever for a regular service, with 78 in attendance. Pastor Steadman preached for a second Sunday on the importance of evangelism and then invited attendees to commit themselves to share the gospel the following week. The Holy Spirit led a dozen people to make that commitment. Pastor Steadman said, "I don't like to emphasize numbers because that can sound arrogant, but God deserves to be congratulated on what He is doing to draw people to Himself." Capstone Baptist Church has committed themselves to joining God in His important work of evangelism.
