Community Baptist Church Holds Vacation Bible School

Six years old Community Baptist Church's future looks perilous. The deacon had posted a letter in the local newspaper announcing the church would close after their annual Christmas Eve service. That is when leaders from the Green Mountain Baptist Association learned of the small church and reached out to them. The association helped them find a pastor, do some much needed work on the building and begin to evangelize their community once again. Both the church and the community have responded well to the renewed vision of the church. Larry Weeks became the pastor a year ago and had made reaching the next generation one of his key priorities.
The success of Pastor Week's efforts became evident during the first week of July 2010 when the church held a Vacation Bible School for the community. Two partner churches, Maple Springs Baptist Church and Ashbury Baptist Church helped lead the outreach program to children. The theme of the Bible school was Crocodile Dock. As a result of the school, at least one 14 year old young man trusted Christ as Savior. Five other people re-affirmed their faith by being baptized.
Pastor Larry Weeks said, " It is such a praise to see the Lord working in our children's lives here in Montgomery Center. I am more blessed than the children."
