Director Graduates and Receives Leadership Award
On May 29, 2009, Terry Dorsett, the director of the Green Mountain Baptist Association, graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree in Mission Administration after completing the four year training program. His final project was entitled, "Plural Bivocational Ministry: Developing and Implementing Pastoral Leadership Teams in a Local Church Setting." For that project he designed and implemented a training program in which 30 men from 12 churches learned how to help their bivocational pastors with preaching and pastoral care. Golden Gate is the tenth largest seminary in America and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. It is known for it's ethnic diversity and less than half of the graduating class was anglo. During the graduation ceremony Dorsett was surprised by receiving the William O Crews Presidential Leadership Award. It is the highest award they give to students and is designed to honor students who have shown extraordinary leadership during their time as a student. Dorsett's family accompanied him to California for the graduation.
