Faith Community Church Celebrates 5th Anniversary

On September 13, 2009 the Faith Community Church of Barre celebrated their 5th anniversary as a church. The two hour celebration service included great contemporary Christian music by the church's renowned praise team. The service also included two interviews with people whose lives had been changed as a result of the being part of the church. One of the interviewees was Randy Swan who said "I was going through a really bad divorce and a friend invited me to come to church. The congregation stood by me and helped me through a difficult time in my life and now I want to help as many other people as I can." Debbie Brink, who was also interviewed, said, "It is hard being a single mom, but since coming to Faith Community Church my relationship with my daughter is much closer than it was." In addition to the interviews the church also baptized four new believers and dedicated two young children to the Lord. One of the more emotional moments in the service was when 20 teenagers took part in sharing "cardboard testimonies." While a song played they simply walked to the platform one at a time and displayed a one phrase testimony written on a piece of cardboard of what their life was like before Christ and then flipped the cardboard over to reveal a one phrase testimony of how Christ had changed their lives. Pastor Dorsett reports that "Many of the teens came from difficult situations, it was very dramatic to see how the power of the Gospel to transformed those young people  from brokenness into beauty through Christ." After a sermon that lasted nearly an hour, the altar was full to capacity with people renewing their commitments to Christ and giving Him praise for how He was transforming them into what He wanted them to be.
