New Life Community Church of Northfield Experiences Growth
GOD IS AT WORK IN NORTHFIELD, VERMONT! Our mission has just finished our busiest and most fruitful summer of ministry yet in Vermont. Since June, we have hosted two mission teams, carried out three major outreach ministries, seen growth in our church, and most importantly, seen 9 people come to know Christ!
We have had 4 new families start attending on a regular basis. We have also started a live praise team which has been a wonderful addition to our worship services. With a new youth ministry starting and more people attending our services, there is a sense of excitement about where God is leading our new church. We are praying about the next steps in the life of our church. Since starting our public worship services in January, we are seeing more and more families with children attend our church. The GOOD PROBLEM we are now facing is room for nursery and Kid's Church. We are quickly outgrowing our current facility which is a community room at the public library. It will take God moving in the hearts of our congregation to see the need to be faithful in tithing for us to able to afford these next steps. We are also going to need the support of ministry partners like yourself to accomplish the goal of planting an established Southern Baptist Church in our town. Please pray for wisdom as we seek God's leading on where He wants us to go during this stage of growth for our church.
During the week of July 13-17, we were blessed to have a mission team from Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, NC, serve the Lord by sponsoring our Upward Soccer Camp for the second summer in a row. They helped us serve an average of 50 kids each day of camp, which is over twice the amount we had last summer. The team noticed how families were much more open and receptive to the gospel, which is the result of many months of prayer and "plowing the field" by our church members, mission teams, and prayer partners. As a result, we saw 1 child and 1 teenager receive Christ during the week, Praise the Lord! The team also was gracious to minister to our family by doing a variety of home repairs for us. Please pray for us as we follow up with the contacts and decisions that were made from this exciting week of ministry.
During the week of August 3-7, we were again blessed to host a mission team from Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. This team came with the goal of helping us lay the foundation for an active youth ministry. They sponsored a daily youth outreach using games, challenges and testimonies to build relationships with the 11 teens that attended. In addition to the youth outreach, the team spent 4 days scraping and repainting the awning at our local Elementary School. I am glad to report that God has blessed us with 2 families in our church that will be taking the momentum from this youth outreach and will be starting weekly youth bible studies at the end of August. I am also excited to report that because of the ministry that other teams have done with our local Boys and Girls Club, the Club is opening their doors to us to host weekly youth bible studies. Praise the Lord! Please pray for our church as we start our weekly youth bible studies and follow up with the families we connected with during this week of ministry.
This past week (August 10-17) we held our first VBS with the help of the Northfield Bible Fellowship, another like-minded church in our town. The two churches pooled their resources and manpower to host over 20 kids for VBS. It was exciting to see the members of our small church minister in different areas to let the kids know of God's BIG love for them. We were blessed and overwhelmed to see at least 6 people pray to receive Christ on Friday night. PRAISE THE LORD! We also saw the kids raise over $250.00 to support Teen Challenge, an addiction recovery ministry with an active center in Vermont. Please pray for us as we follow up with the decisions made at VBS.
It has been a busy summer for our family and school is starting soon. Please pray for Robyn as she prepares for another year of teaching Kindergarten. Pray for Trey as he gets ready to drive the school bus again, with Joshua as his co-pilot. Pray for Rachel as she starts second grade this year.
