Street Ministry Report

November 17, 2008
Greetings from the Streets of Burlington!
We had a great summer in our street ministry. We saw 10 people give their lives to Christ, and it is a great joy to see these new believers growing in their faith. It is such a great honor to be used by God to bring the message of Jesus to the streets. We have moved indoors for our Winter Street Outreach until May. This is the time of year we have some of the best opportunities to minister to folks we do not normally see. The Christmas Season has always been tough on the poor, but this year, it will be even worse, and will be tough on a lot of folks who have never felt needy before.
This year we are asking for two items to use as tools to build relationship with those on the street. Those items are: McDonald's $5 gift cards and postage stamps.
The McDonald's gift certificates allow us to send a homeless person into McDonald's for a hot meal and to get warmed up from the cold. They cannot use it to buy alcohol or drugs, only for McDonald's food, so it is a great way to help the homeless. Postage stamps help the homeless stay in touch with family and friends.
Both of these items can be collected by a Sunday School class or youth group and sent to the association office. Thank you for your prayers and support.
