Washing Cars for Jesus

Teenagers stood beside the road holding up signs that promoted a $1 car wash. In a tight economy, many people thought that was a good deal. A line of cars formed and the teens and their adult sponsors began to wash cars. As they finished each car the person in the car would try to pay one dollar, as the sign advertised. To their surprise, the young people refused to take the dollar, instead the young people GAVE each customer a dollar for the honor of serving them. They also gave them information about the new Waterbury Mission which God is forming in the village of Waterbury. Volunteers from Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Virginia helped provide man power for the car wash. Even young Nathaniel, son of Vermont church planter Brian Conyers, got involved. It was a creative way to show the community that the new mission wants to serve the community. It also helped create a buzz in town about the new church.
